The National Aquarium of New Zealand
The National Aquarium of New Zealand in Napier is within easy walking distance from the centre of the city. The magnificent architectural design imitates the form of a stingray, in a unique position on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. This aquarium has a wider range of species than any other similar facility in New Zealand. There is a reef tank, a travelator which spirals its way beneath the enormous oceanarium, creating the impression of a true underwater experience, and a typical New Zealand rocky shore environment.

There are sharks, stingray and hundreds of fish species, many of them representative of the catches from along the East Coast. There are eels, trout, sea horse, turtles, tropical marine fish, kiwi, tuatara, water dragons, native frogs and crocodile also on display.

Napier Prison Tours
Your personal guide will enthral you with tales of the villains, victims and heroes that have served time in the oldest prison in NZ. Be entertained with stories of infamous deeds, notorious gang members, violent kingpins, prison escapes, ghosts and inside scams. Napier Prison was closed in 1993 and reopened in 2002 for your memorable experience in Hawkes Bay.

Dark Side of Deco Tour
Explore the prison's corridors with undulating floors, twisted walls, and unaligned ceilings from the 1931 earthquake. Hear stories of the era.

Historical Tour
Listen to tales of a prison wall constructed with hard labour, as well as hangings, escapes, and ghost sightings. Take your mug-shot and get locked up in solitary confinement!!

The Maori Story and Picnic
